The Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Home   If your looking for an interesting, local, literary field trip, then you may want to visit Ernest Hemingway's Birthplace in Oak Park, Illinois. Ernest Hemmingway, one of the 20th century's great novelists and short story writers was born in the house pictured above. He spent the first 20 years of his life in Oak Park and some believe that his midwest upbringing deeply influenced his later writing.
